Description
A quick and flavorful dish blending garlic and turmeric for a vibrant meal that connects family and tradition.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long-grain rice (Basmati or jasmine)
- 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 cups vegetable broth (or chicken broth)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like parsley or cilantro) for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté gently for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the turmeric and allow it to bloom for about a minute.
- Add the rice to the skillet, stirring to coat in the garlic-turmeric mixture.
- Pour in the vegetable broth, then season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a gentle boil, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, remove from heat but leave covered for an additional 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Letting the rice rest post-cooking ensures the grains become perfectly fluffy. Don’t skip rinsing the rice to keep it separate.
