Description

A delightful appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry and tender asparagus, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan or Gruyère cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh herbs (optional, such as thyme or basil)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Place the rolled-out pastry on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Trim the edges and use the trimmings to create a border around the pastry.
  5. Blanch the asparagus in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to ice water to cool.
  6. Pat the asparagus dry and lay them on the pastry.
  7. Sprinkle minced garlic, cheese, and fresh herbs across the pastry.
  8. Brush the edges with egg wash.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Feel free to use frozen asparagus if fresh isn’t available. Substitute cheese with a vegan alternative for a lighter version.
