- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan or Gruyère cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh herbs (optional, such as thyme or basil)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
- Place the rolled-out pastry on a lined baking sheet.
- Trim the edges and use the trimmings to create a border around the pastry.
- Blanch the asparagus in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to ice water to cool.
- Pat the asparagus dry and lay them on the pastry.
- Sprinkle minced garlic, cheese, and fresh herbs across the pastry.
- Brush the edges with egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Feel free to use frozen asparagus if fresh isn’t available. Substitute cheese with a vegan alternative for a lighter version.
