- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 bunch fresh asparagus (trimmed)
- 1/2 cup goat cheese (crumbled)
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Rinse asparagus and trim off woody ends. Optionally, peel lower part for even cooking.
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into squares.
- Place 2-3 asparagus spears on each pastry square and add a spoonful of cheese mixture on top.
- Fold corners over the filling and seal securely. Crimp edges if desired.
- Beat the egg and brush over the tops of the pastries.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
For different flavors, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or using different cheese varieties. Ensure fillings are not too wet to prevent sogginess.
