Description

A delightful dish of flaky puff pastry wrapped around tender asparagus and cheese, perfect for gatherings and special moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus (trimmed)
  • 1/2 cup goat cheese (crumbled)
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Rinse asparagus and trim off woody ends. Optionally, peel lower part for even cooking.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into squares.
  4. Place 2-3 asparagus spears on each pastry square and add a spoonful of cheese mixture on top.
  5. Fold corners over the filling and seal securely. Crimp edges if desired.
  6. Beat the egg and brush over the tops of the pastries.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For different flavors, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or using different cheese varieties. Ensure fillings are not too wet to prevent sogginess.
