Ingredients
- Whole Chicken (3 to 4 pounds)
- Soy Sauce
- Sesame Oil
- Minced Garlic
- Grated Ginger
- Scallions (or Green Onions)
- Five Spice Powder (optional)
- Honey or Brown Sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and optional spices.
- Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken in a resealable bag or bowl, coat with marinade, seal, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare for Roasting: Place the marinated chicken on a roasting rack inside a baking dish.
- Roast the Chicken: Bake for about 1 hour and 15 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Rest the Chicken: Remove and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving.
- Serve It Up: Slice and serve with sides of choice, garnished with scallions.
Notes
Baste the chicken with its own juices for extra flavor. Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
