Description

A nostalgic and comforting dish featuring tender beef and al dente egg noodles in a rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs beef (chuck roast or flank steak)
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 4 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups fresh vegetables (mushrooms, bell peppers, or carrots)
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef against the grain for tenderness and chop the vegetables.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the beef until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove beef and sauté onions and garlic in the same pan until translucent.
  4. Return beef to the skillet and add broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours until beef is tender.
  5. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  6. If desired, thicken sauce by mixing cornstarch with water and adding to the skillet.
  7. Add cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to combine. Top with fresh herbs before serving.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary before serving.

Notes

This dish can be made with ground turkey or tofu for a lighter option. Zucchini noodles can be used as a substitute for egg noodles.
