Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef or brisket
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups beef broth
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef or brisket in a heavy pot over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces.
- Drain excess fat, then add chopped onions and minced garlic; sauté until soft.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, and a sprinkle of salt; let bloom for a minute.
- Mix in diced tomatoes and beef broth, bringing to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for at least 30 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasonings, adding more chili powder or hot sauce as desired.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider adding a splash of beer during simmering. Serve with cornbread or over rice, and top with cheddar cheese and sour cream.
