- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup Gruyère or sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup button or cremini mushrooms, diced
- 1/2 cup bacon or ham, diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- Fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, chives) for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Pre-bake the pie crust in a 9-inch dish until golden brown as per package instructions.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat; sauté onions until translucent, then add mushrooms and cook until tender. Add bacon or ham to crisp up.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, salt, and pepper. Incorporate the sautéed mixture and cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture into the pre-baked crust, spreading evenly. Top with extra cheese and herbs.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 35–40 minutes until the center is set.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing for easier serving.
Notes
For added depth of flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine when sautéing the mushrooms.
