Ingredients

  • 34 lbs pork shoulder
  • 2 medium onions, sautéed
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Rub the pork shoulder with the spice mix and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté the onions and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker on top of the onions, add apple cider vinegar and broth.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours.
  5. Shred the pork after cooking and mix in barbecue sauce.
  6. Serve on toasted buns with coleslaw or alongside roasted vegetables.
