Ingredients

- 3–4 lbs pork shoulder
- 2 medium onions, sautéed
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp ground pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Rub the pork shoulder with the spice mix and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté the onions and garlic until fragrant.
- Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker on top of the onions, add apple cider vinegar and broth.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours.
- Shred the pork after cooking and mix in barbecue sauce.
- Serve on toasted buns with coleslaw or alongside roasted vegetables.
Notes
For deeper flavor, let the pork marinate overnight. Use a meat thermometer for perfect tenderness.
