Description

A nostalgic recipe for soft and chewy snickerdoodles rolled in cinnamon-sugar, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your baking sheets.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Adding one egg at a time, mix well after each addition, followed by vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients.
  5. Chill the dough for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  6. Prepare a cinnamon-sugar mixture by combining 3 tablespoons of sugar with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
  7. Form small balls of dough, about 1 inch in diameter, and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are golden, and they remain soft in the center.
  10. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, avoid flattening the dough balls before baking. For a softer texture, consider underbaking slightly.
