Description
A nostalgic recipe for soft and chewy snickerdoodles rolled in cinnamon-sugar, perfect for sharing with loved ones.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar (for rolling)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for rolling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your baking sheets.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Adding one egg at a time, mix well after each addition, followed by vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Prepare a cinnamon-sugar mixture by combining 3 tablespoons of sugar with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon.
- Form small balls of dough, about 1 inch in diameter, and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are golden, and they remain soft in the center.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For thicker cookies, avoid flattening the dough balls before baking. For a softer texture, consider underbaking slightly.
