Description

A layered dessert combining rich chocolate cake, tart cherries, and fluffy whipped cream, perfect for family gatherings or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 chocolate cake (prepared)
  • 2 cups cherries (fresh or canned)
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your chocolate cake and let it cool completely before cutting.
  2. If using fresh cherries, pit and slice them. If using canned, drain them but reserve some juice.
  3. Whip the cream, adding sugar and vanilla extract to taste, until soft peaks form.
  4. In a large trifle bowl, layer chocolate cake, cherries, and whipped cream. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  5. Top with chocolate shavings and whole cherries for garnish.
  6. Refrigerate for at least two hours to allow flavors to blend.

Notes

For a lighter version, you can use chocolate sponge cake. Customize by substituting cherries with raspberries or strawberries.
