- ½ cup black sesame seeds, freshly ground
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup milk
- Powdered sugar, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, ground black sesame seeds, baking powder, and baking soda.
- In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar or serve plain.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, consider substituting with coconut oil for butter, and use flax eggs for a vegan option.
