- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 cup dark chocolate (for ganache)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then pour in the buttermilk, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently.
- Fold in the fresh blackberries carefully.
- Divide the cake batter evenly into both prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- For ganache, heat heavy cream until it simmers, then pour over chopped dark chocolate, stirring until smooth.
- Assemble the cake by spreading ganache on one layer, topping with blackberries, then place the second layer on top and pour ganache over the entire cake.
- Garnish with more blackberries and a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute eggs with mashed banana or applesauce and use plant-based milk. Ensure that all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
