Instructions

  1. Slice strawberries and sprinkle with sugar and brandy. Let sit.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add heavy cream and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Turn dough onto a floured surface, pat into a rectangle, and cut out biscuits.
  6. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden.
  7. Whip heavy cream with malted milk powder and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  8. Assemble shortcakes: Slice biscuits, layer with strawberries and syrup, then top with whipped cream.
