Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup protein powder (whey or plant-based)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or yogurt)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs (rosemary or chives)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and eggs until blended.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in your chosen herbs and any extras.
  6. Lightly flour your working surface, turn out the dough, and pat it into a rectangle about ¾ inch thick.
  7. Cut into squares or use a biscuit cutter to shape the biscuits.
  8. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving with a pat of butter.
