Ingredients

  • 1 batch pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup white pizza sauce (butter, flour, milk, garlic powder, nutmeg)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
  • 1 cup fresh arugula
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a pizza stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. In a saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour to form a roux, then gradually add 1 cup of milk while stirring until thickened (about 5 minutes). Season with garlic powder and nutmeg.
  4. Spread the warm white sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce.
  6. Evenly distribute crushed candy canes over the pizza.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  8. Sprinkle fresh arugula on top after removing from the oven.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar and slice to serve.

Notes

For a unique twist, blend mozzarella with gouda. Use gluten-free dough if needed.
