Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 10-inch cast-iron skillet.
- Melt 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter in the skillet over medium heat, then add 1 cup of granulated sugar and stir until bubbling and golden brown (5-7 minutes).
- Peel, core, and slice 6 apples, then toss them with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
- Arrange the apple slices in a spiral pattern in the caramel.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples and drizzle with vanilla extract.
- Roll out the puff pastry, cut it to fit the skillet, and place it over the apples.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before inverting onto a platter and serving warm.
