  • Store-bought puff pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 10-inch cast-iron skillet.
  2. Melt 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter in the skillet over medium heat, then add 1 cup of granulated sugar and stir until bubbling and golden brown (5-7 minutes).
  3. Peel, core, and slice 6 apples, then toss them with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
  4. Arrange the apple slices in a spiral pattern in the caramel.
  5. Sprinkle ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples and drizzle with vanilla extract.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry, cut it to fit the skillet, and place it over the apples.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before inverting onto a platter and serving warm.
