Description

A delightful crostini topped with caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms, perfect for gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • Baguette
  • Yellow or sweet onions
  • Button, cremini, or shiitake mushrooms
  • Garlic
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the baguette into ½-inch thick pieces.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook until soft and golden (15-20 minutes), adding water if needed.
  3. Add sliced mushrooms and minced garlic to the onions; sauté for 5-7 minutes until mushrooms are tender.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet; drizzle with olive oil and toast for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Assemble crostini by topping each baguette slice with the caramelized onion and mushroom mixture, and optionally add cheese or herbs.
  6. Serve warm on a platter.

Notes

Ensure not to rush the caramelization process for best flavor. Serve crostini fresh for maximum crunch.
