Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups Vidalia onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- Salt and pepper to taste

- Sauté the onions: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, add onions, and sauté until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
- Mix the filling: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cream, salt, and pepper. Stir in sautéed onions and cheddar until combined.
- Assemble the pie: Pour the onion mixture into the prepared crust, spreading evenly.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 40-45 minutes until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
- Cool and serve: Let the pie cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Serve with a fresh green salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal. For extra flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or fresh herbs.
