Delicious bite-sized pretzel dough filled with gooey cheese, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or gouda)
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, pour in yeast mixture, and mix until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth, adding melted butter at the end.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 450°F and prepare a baking soda bath with boiling water and baking soda.
- Divide dough into small pieces, flatten each, fill with cheese, and shape into bites.
- Boil the bites for 30 seconds in the baking soda water, then remove and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with coarse sea salt and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
Serve with warm mustard or a creamy cheese dip for added flavor.
