Description

Delicious bite-sized pretzel dough filled with gooey cheese, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or gouda)
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, brown sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, pour in yeast mixture, and mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth, adding melted butter at the end.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 450°F and prepare a baking soda bath with boiling water and baking soda.
  6. Divide dough into small pieces, flatten each, fill with cheese, and shape into bites.
  7. Boil the bites for 30 seconds in the baking soda water, then remove and place on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes
