Description

A hearty and comforting casserole that combines ground beef, rice, and cheese for a delicious family meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef or chicken broth
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley, for seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Add onions and garlic, cooking until soft and fragrant.
  3. Drain excess fat and combine the beef mixture with rice, cream of mushroom soup, and broth in a bowl.
  4. Stir in half of the cheese, then transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, feel free to add diced jalapeños or different herbs.
