Description

A delightful dessert combining flaky puff pastry, rich chocolate, and sweet bananas that evokes nostalgia and joy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 8 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional garnishes: fresh mint leaves, caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into rectangles.
  3. Place the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet, pricking them gently with a fork, and brush with egg wash. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy.
  4. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  5. Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form, then add sugar and vanilla, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  6. Slice the bananas into even rounds.
  7. Assemble the Napoleons by layering pastry, chocolate, banana slices, and whipped cream. Repeat until desired height is achieved.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce for a stunning finish.

Notes

For best results, assemble just before serving to maintain the texture of the pastry. Use firm, ripe bananas for the best flavor.
