Description
A delightful dessert combining flaky puff pastry, rich chocolate, and sweet bananas that evokes nostalgia and joy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 8 oz dark chocolate
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional garnishes: fresh mint leaves, caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into rectangles.
- Place the pastry rectangles on a baking sheet, pricking them gently with a fork, and brush with egg wash. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whip heavy cream until soft peaks form, then add sugar and vanilla, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Slice the bananas into even rounds.
- Assemble the Napoleons by layering pastry, chocolate, banana slices, and whipped cream. Repeat until desired height is achieved.
- Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with caramel sauce for a stunning finish.
Notes
For best results, assemble just before serving to maintain the texture of the pastry. Use firm, ripe bananas for the best flavor.
