Description
Chewy cookies combining bright orange zest with tart cranberries, perfect for holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 1/4 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add the egg and orange zest to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the fresh cranberries.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C), and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Drop dough onto the sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For added festivity, consider sprinkling festive-colored sugar on top before baking. Feel free to substitute dried cranberries if fresh ones aren’t available, but reduce sugar slightly as dried berries are sweeter.
