Description

Delightful chocolate cookies with a signature cracked top and a dusting of powdered sugar, perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and granulated sugar. Mix well to eliminate any lumps.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep your cookies tender.
  5. Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls, then roll each ball in powdered sugar until thoroughly coated.
  6. Place the coated balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops have cracked and the edges are set.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

If the dough feels too sticky, chill it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before rolling. Check your cookies towards the end of baking to prevent overcooking.
