Description
Indulge in gooey cinnamon rolls with the delightful addition of crushed Oreos for a unique twist on a classic treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup crushed Oreos
Instructions
- Prepare the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the butter, eggs, and the frothy yeast mixture. Mix until it forms a soft dough.
- Knead the Dough: Turn your dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and crushed Oreos.
- Roll and Fill: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle (about 1/4 inch thick). Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle the filling evenly over it.
- Roll It Up: Starting from the long side, carefully roll the dough into a log. Slice into 12 even pieces.
- Let Them Rise Again: Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, cover, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Prepare the Icing: While the rolls are baking, whip together powdered sugar, softened cream cheese, and a splash of milk until smooth.
- Glaze the Rolls: Once baked, let the rolls cool for a few minutes before drizzling the icing over while they are still warm.
Notes
These cinnamon rolls can be made ahead and frozen before baking. They also pair well with coffee or milk.
