Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy and pale.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt, then gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- With floured hands, take about 2 tablespoons of dough, roll it into a ball, and shape it into a ring to create the wreath effect.
- Place the shaped wreaths on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
Use room temperature butter for best results, avoid overmixing the dough, and chill before baking to hold shape.
