Description

A warm, nostalgic stuffing combining sweet-tart cranberries and apples with savory herbs, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Crusty bread (sourdough or baguette), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Fresh cranberries (or dried cranberries)
  • Firm apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter (or olive oil)
  • Fresh sage and thyme
  • 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cut bread into cubes and let it dry overnight or toast slightly in the oven.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onion and celery until soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, cranberries, apples, and herbs.
  4. Pour in broth gradually, mixing until bread is moistened but not soggy.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Uncover for the last 10 minutes to brown the top.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For added crunch, consider incorporating nuts like walnuts or pecans. If you prefer a lighter version, substitute butter with olive oil.
