Delightful Cream Cheese Cinnamon Sugar Rolls filled with a rich cream cheese mixture and topped with a sweet glaze, perfect for family gatherings and brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup whole milk, warm
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar (for filling)
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for topping)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk until lukewarm, sprinkle the yeast and a pinch of sugar, let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl, then add yeast mixture, butter, and eggs. Knead until smooth, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
- Make the Filling: Beat cream cheese, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth.
- Roll Out the Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough, roll out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick, and spread the filling evenly.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough tightly and slice into 1.5-inch pieces. Place in a greased dish, allowing space for them to rise.
- Final Rise: Cover and let rise for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
- Glaze: Mix powdered sugar and milk for a pourable glaze, drizzle over warm rolls.
- Serve: Allow to cool slightly before enjoying.
Notes
The rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or refrigerated longer. They can also be frozen for up to two months.
