Description

A delightful dish featuring flaky white fish, crispy batter, and fresh toppings, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fish (cod, tilapia, or mahi-mahi), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup beer or sparkling water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Spices (cumin, smoked paprika, etc.), to taste
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fish and pat it dry, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt, pepper, and spices.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and cornstarch, add salt and spices, then whisk in beer or sparkling water until smooth.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Dip fish in batter and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Place fried fish on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil; keep warm in the oven.
  5. Warm the tortillas in a skillet or over a flame for a few seconds until pliable.
  6. Assemble tacos by layering tortillas with fish and topping with cabbage, avocado, tomatoes, and cilantro. Drizzle with sauce made from yogurt, lime, and garlic powder, if desired.
  7. Serve with lime wedges and enjoy with loved ones.
