Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, and melted butter. Gradually add to dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  3. Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan to 360°F.
  5. Roll chilled dough to ½-inch thickness, cut out donuts with a cutter.
  6. Fry donuts a few at a time until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes each side.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. In a saucepan, heat heavy cream and sugar until caramel forms. Fill each donut with caramel.
  9. Top with desired glaze.

Be careful with oil temperature to avoid greasy donuts. Chilling the dough is essential for good texture.
