Description

Warm and comforting Crock Pot Apple Pork Chops, combining tender pork with sweet apples and fragrant herbs for a family-favorite dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 thick, bone-in pork chops
  • 2 sweet apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme or sage, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat and sear each chop for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  2. Layer the sliced onions and apples in the bottom of the crock pot. Place the seared pork chops on top.
  3. Drizzle with apple cider and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped herbs.
  4. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the pork is tender.
  5. In the last half hour, stir in a bit more butter and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Serve the pork chops with the cooked apples and sauce over the top.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute chicken for pork; if apples aren’t in season, pear slices can be used.
