A festive and flavorful jam combining strawberries, cranberries, and warm spices, perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulked and washed
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, wash and hull the strawberries, then combine them with the fresh cranberries.
  2. Add sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to the berry mixture, stirring gently to coat the fruit evenly.
  3. Pour the mixture into your crockpot and set it to low, allowing it to cook for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Check consistency after cooking; for a thicker jam, cook an additional hour. If chunkier jam is desired, lightly mash the fruits with a fork.
  5. Pour the jam into sterilized jars while warm, leaving about a half-inch headspace. Seal tightly and cool completely before refrigerating or freezing.

Notes

Taste the jam during the final stages of cooking. Add more sugar if you prefer a sweeter jam.
