  • Candy canes or crushed peppermint (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of softened butter. Mix until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into a tart pan evenly and prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbles.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Let it cool.
  5. Chop the dark chocolate and melt it gently over a double boiler, stirring until smooth.
  6. Whip the heavy cream in a separate bowl until soft peaks form—set aside.
  7. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until thick.
  8. Gradually pour the melted chocolate into the egg mixture, mixing well. Stir in peppermint extract.
  9. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture until fully incorporated.
  10. Pour the mousse into the cooled tart shell and smooth the top.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 240 minutes (4 hours) or until set.
  12. Once set, sprinkle the top with crushed candy canes.
  13. Slice with a hot knife and serve.
