Description

A delightful French toast dish coated in crunchy cornflakes, reminiscent of magical mornings at Disneyland.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Thick slices of brioche or challah (or white bread/sourdough)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or honey/maple syrup)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup cornflakes (or flavored/gluten-free options)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Soak each side for 30 seconds.
  3. Pour cornflakes into a shallow dish, crushing them slightly for varied texture.
  4. Coat each slice of soaked bread in the cornflake mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter to coat the bottom.
  6. Cook the coated bread in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  7. Serve immediately, drizzled with warm maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Notes

For richer flavor, use stale bread to absorb the custard better and ensure not to rush the soaking process.
