Description

Chewy, buttery sugar cookie bars perfect for holiday gatherings, decorated with festive sprinkles or frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  3. Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then frost or dust with powdered sugar before cutting into squares.

Notes

For added flavor, mix in chocolate chips or crushed peppermint. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
