- 1 pound thinly sliced roast beef
- 8 ounces fresh cremini or button mushrooms, chopped
- 2 medium sweet or yellow onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 package puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup Swiss or provolone cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and chopped mushrooms; cook until tender and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in roast beef, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Optional: stir in a handful of cheese for extra creaminess.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares to fit a generous spoonful of filling.
- Place filling on half of each pastry square, fold over, and seal edges. Crimp with a fork if desired.
- Brush the tops with melted butter.
- Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
- Serve hot with a small bowl of beef broth or au jus for dipping.
Notes
Feel free to substitute ingredients based on availability, such as turkey instead of roast beef or spinach for mushrooms.
