Description

A delightful side dish featuring crisp French green beans sautéed with toasted almonds, garlic, and a squeeze of lemon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound French green beans (haricots verts)
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them under cold water; set aside.
  2. Toast the slivered almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until golden brown; set aside.
  3. Melt butter (or heat olive oil) in the same skillet over medium-high heat and add minced garlic for 30 seconds.
  4. Add green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender yet crisp.
  5. Reduce heat, squeeze lemon juice over the beans, and season with salt and pepper; stir to combine.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle toasted almonds on top before serving.

Notes

For extra texture, consider blanching the beans before sautéing. Toasting the almonds is essential for flavor.
