Description
A delightful pastry filled with sweet pears and rich almond cream, encased in a flaky, golden puff pastry.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package puff pastry
- 4 ripe pears (Bartlett or Bosc)
- 7 oz almond paste
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into two circles, about 10 inches in diameter.
- In a bowl, mix the almond paste, softened butter, and sugar until smooth. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Peel, core, and slice the pears thinly, then gently fold them into the almond mixture.
- Place one pastry circle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the filling in the center, leaving edges clear.
- Carefully place the second pastry circle on top, sealing the edges by pressing with fingers and crimping with a fork.
- Beat the remaining egg and brush it on top for a golden finish.
- Make decorative slits on top to allow steam to escape.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing.
Notes
