Description
Deliciously rich and fudgy red velvet cookies with a signature crinkle, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring (gel)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla, whisking until smooth. Stir in the red food coloring until the mixture is bright red.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop spoonfuls of dough and roll them into balls, then coat each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space for spreading, and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough to prevent flat cookies and keep an eye on baking time, as they can easily overbake.
