  • 8 Hawaiian rolls
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (shiitake or button)

Instructions

  1. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half.
  2. Sauté the mushrooms in a skillet with a tablespoon of butter over medium heat for about 5 minutes, then add garlic and sauté for another minute.
  3. Assemble the sandwich with cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and more cheese on the Hawaiian rolls.
  4. Add more butter to the skillet and grill the sandwiches on low heat for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  5. Remove, slice, and serve hot with a salad or soup.
