  • 8 ounces fresh cremini or button mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or parsley (or to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the beef tips generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil. Sear the beef on all sides until golden brown.
  3. Sauté chopped onions and garlic in the same skillet until softened. Add the mushrooms last and cook until golden.
  4. Transfer the beef and vegetables to a crock pot. Pour in the beef broth until covered.
  5. Sprinkle the gravy mix over the mixture and gently stir to combine.
  6. Add fresh herbs and Worcestershire sauce if using.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, until beef is fork-tender.
  8. For thicker gravy, whisk cornstarch with cold water and add during the last 30 minutes.
  9. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles, garnishing with fresh parsley.
