Ingredients
Scale
- 4–6 fresh lemons
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup hot water
- 3–4 cups cold water
- Optional: fresh mint leaves or berries
Instructions
- Roll the lemons on the countertop and cut them in half; squeeze the juice into a measuring cup, straining out any seeds.
- Dissolve 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of hot water in a pitcher, stirring until fully dissolved.
- Add the fresh lemon juice to the pitcher of syrup and stir well.
- Pour in 3-4 cups of cold water, adjusting to taste.
- Muddle in mint leaves or strawberries for additional flavor, if desired.
- Chill the lemonade in the fridge for about 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
For sweeter lemonade, adjust sugar to taste. You can also use honey or agave nectar instead of sugar, and sparkling water for a fizzy version.
