Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp flavored extracts (vanilla, mint, etc.)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar has dissolved.
- Once the mixture comes to a boil, stop stirring and let it reach the hard ball stage (around 250°F, or 121°C).
- Remove from heat and carefully pour in the salt and flavor extracts.
- Allow to cool slightly, then pour onto a greased surface.
- Once manageable, grease hands with butter and start pulling the taffy until shiny and pliable.
- Add food coloring if desired, and continue until glossy.
- Form into a log and wrap in wax paper before cutting into bite-sized pieces.
