  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • Pinch of Sea salt for finishing
  • Optional: crushed peppermint candies, nuts, or dried fruit

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then stir in the chocolate chips until completely melted and smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted chocolate mixture until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  7. Fold in any additional ingredients like nuts or peppermint if desired.
  8. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges look set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then lift the parchment paper to remove the bars and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  11. Once cooled, slice into generous squares.
