- 4 ripe pears, peeled and diced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup buttermilk or yogurt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, toss the diced pears with lemon juice.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the diced pears gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 40-50 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
