Description
A flavorful and healthy take on burgers, infused with fresh Mediterranean herbs and creamy feta cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb lean ground chicken
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 small red onion, diced finely
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (regular or whole wheat)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Finely chop the fresh herbs and onions, then crumble the feta cheese.
- Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, crumbled feta, fresh herbs, garlic, diced onion, lemon zest, egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the Patties: Shape the mixture into evenly sized patties, about 1 inch thick.
- Chill: Refrigerate the patties for about 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a skillet or grill over medium heat, add olive oil, and cook the patties for 5–6 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve the burgers on whole grain buns with toppings like tzatziki sauce, sliced cucumbers, or heirloom tomatoes.
Notes
For best results, do not overcrowd the skillet during cooking. Refrigerate the patties if possible before cooking to maintain their shape.
