Description

A vibrant dish of tender chicken cooked in a zesty sauce of fresh lemon juice, garlic, and Romano cheese, offering a delightful umami flavor.


Ingredients

  • Boneless chicken (breast or thighs)
  • Fresh lemons (juice and zest)
  • Romano cheese (finely grated)
  • Fresh garlic (minced)
  • Butter
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or thyme)
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Optionally, flatten breasts for even cooking.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and melt butter over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 6-7 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for about a minute. Squeeze in fresh lemon juice and zest, scraping any browned bits from the pan.
  4. Add more butter and fresh herbs, stirring to combine.
  5. Nestle the chicken back in the skillet, allowing it to soak in the sauce for a couple of minutes.
  6. Plate the chicken and sprinkle with Romano cheese, letting it melt over the hot chicken. Garnish with extra lemon zest and herbs.

Notes

For a spicier touch, add crushed red pepper flakes. Can substitute Parmesan for Romano if needed.
