- 8 oz mushrooms (Cremini or Shiitake), cleaned and sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 package puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup cheese (optional, Gruyère or Parmesan)
- 1 egg, for egg wash
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter or oil. Sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the mushrooms and thyme, cooking until mushrooms are tender and golden. Season with salt and pepper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until 1/4 inch thick, then cut into 4×4 inch squares.
- Place a spoonful of the mushroom mixture in the center of each pastry square, adding cheese if desired.
- Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or rectangle and seal the edges. Crimp with a fork for decoration.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and brush each square with egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature. Great as an appetizer or side dish.
