Description

A delightful savory pastry filled with sautéed mushrooms and fresh thyme, perfect for gatherings or cozy dinners.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz mushrooms (Cremini or Shiitake), cleaned and sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup cheese (optional, Gruyère or Parmesan)
  • 1 egg, for egg wash
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the butter or oil. Sauté the garlic until fragrant.
  2. Add the mushrooms and thyme, cooking until mushrooms are tender and golden. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until 1/4 inch thick, then cut into 4×4 inch squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of the mushroom mixture in the center of each pastry square, adding cheese if desired.
  5. Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or rectangle and seal the edges. Crimp with a fork for decoration.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and brush each square with egg wash.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Great as an appetizer or side dish.
