Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried)
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary (or 1/2 tsp dried)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian)
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, etc.)
- 1 package pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in garlic and ground beef, cooking until browned; season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir, and then slowly add beef broth, simmer until thickened.
- Roll out your pie dough and cut circular shapes for the base and top.
- Fill the pie crust base with the meat filling, cover with the top crust and crimp edges to seal.
- Create slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
- Brush with egg wash and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Feel free to customize with different meats or go vegetarian by substituting with mushrooms or lentils. Serve with a side salad or mashed potatoes.
