Description

A comforting and joyous dish featuring tender meatballs in a creamy sauce with sautéed mushrooms and garlic, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, diced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Fresh herbs (parsley and thyme)
  • Salt, pepper, and smoked paprika to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Mix gently.
  2. Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and brown them in a skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes.
  3. Remove the meatballs and sauté mushrooms in the same skillet until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms, stir, and pour in beef broth while stirring. Simmer to thicken.
  5. Add meatballs back to the skillet and simmer together for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until creamy.
  7. Serve hot over egg noodles or rice, garnished with fresh herbs.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, use lentils or chickpeas and substitute cashew cream for sour cream.
