Description

A creamy and zesty dessert that combines the richness of flan with the bright flavor of fresh oranges.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) Evaporated Milk
  • 1 cup Fresh Orange Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Orange Zest
  • 1 cup Sugar (for caramel)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and a tablespoon of water. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and turns a beautiful amber color. Quickly pour the caramel into your flan mold or individual ramekins, swirling to coat the bottom evenly.
  2. Mix the Flan: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, orange juice, and zest until smooth.
  3. Pour and Bake: Carefully pour the mixture over the caramel. Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish filled with hot water (bain-marie). Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  4. Cool and Unmold: Allow the flan to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate, letting the caramel drizzle down the sides.
  5. Enjoy! Garnish with extra zest or a mint sprig if desired.

Notes

For a less sweet version, reduce the sugar in the caramel. Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing.
